New Construction Permit: $2.4M construction project in Near North Side

The city of Chicago issued a new construction building permit on Oct. 21 for a project at 68 E. Oak St. The estimated cost of the building is $2.4 million.

The project description is for a “self-certification permit for new 3,615 square foot interior build-out and facade for retail tenant within existing building.”

The property owner is Chris Oakley, 540 W. Madison Ave., Chicago.

The property at 68 E. Oak St., built in 1938, is part of the old Esquire Theater that has undergone a gut rehab for multiple retail spaces, according to Trulia.

The average price for homes sold in the area recently was $348,500, according to Trulia.
